Just as it was the case for the two service packs for Windows Vista, SP1 for Windows 7 will be just a minor upgrade. Just a few days short of the first five months since it launched its latest Windows client, Microsoft is finally ready to start talking Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1).

The first service pack for Windows 7 is reportedly on track to graduating to Beta stage in mid-April 2010. Microsoft, of course, has yet to make public any details on the first major upgrade for its latest Windows client, let alone disclose the timetable, or the launch deadline.

Microsoft is producing a steady stream of interim Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Builds on the way to the first beta development milestone, but so far has yet to make public any official details on the first major upgrade to the latest iteration of its Windows client. Information from a third-party source reveals that, between January 11 and March 2, Microsoft compiled no less than 35 builds of Windows 7 SP1, at the rate of almost one per day.
